ARAP and Cobre Panama provide support to aquaculturists in the province of Coclé

The Sustainable Agricultural Community Committee of Cascajal, in the district of La Pintada, Coclé, has carried out the first partial harvest of tilapia, with the participation of over 15 families. This initiative is the result of a joint project between the community, the Authority of Aquatic Resources of Panama (ARAP), and the company Cobre Panama.

In this first partial harvest, around 300 pounds of tilapia were obtained, with an average weight of 1.5 pounds. These tilapia will be used both for family consumption and for commercialization, allowing the families to generate economic income.

In addition to providing a source of quality protein, the tilapia harvest also offers business opportunities. The families have a grinding machine that will allow them to transform the fish into nuggets and hamburgers, adding value to the products.
