The Dallas Cowboys are considered to be one of the few teams that have a chance to capture the NFC in 2023 given how wide-open the conference looks.

The Cowboys have a deep and talented roster on both sides of the field and the hope is that their chemistry and continuity can propel them back to the Super Bowl.

The offense will once again be led by Dak Prescott who has been hampered by injuries in previous seasons, though by all accounts is healthy heading into the new year.

However, Dallas felt the need to shore up the depth behind him when they swung a trade with the San Francisco 49ers for Trey Lance.

Lance had fallen to the bottom of the 49ers’ depth chart, paving the way for the Cowboys to swoop in and grab a quarterback with upside for cheap.

Jerry Jones took some time to discuss what went into the decision to trade for Lance but he also dropped an interesting tidbit about the Philadelphia Eagles’ Jalen Hurts via Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team.

Hurts fell to the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft where the Eagles selected him No. 53 overall.

Jones, like every other team in the league, probably regrets the chance to add someone like Hurts so late in the draft though hindsight is always 20/20.

Although it was a missed opportunity for Jones and the Cowboys, the team is still in a good position with Prescott under center and they should be in the mix come the postseason.
