The Minnesota Vikings are just barely on the outside of the postseason field and will need to win games and have other teams lose to make the playoffs this season.
And in Week 17, they’ll take on the Green Bay Packers with a new starting quarterback.
The Vikings announced that rookie Jaren Hall will take over for Nick Mullens under center after the veteran threw four interceptions in a Week 16 loss to the Detroit Lions.
It’s a huge decision, and not one fans were surprised to see after this past week.
good, i didn't understand why they went w/ mullens after benching Dobbs

From Kirk Cousins to Jaren Hall to Joshua Dobbs to Nick Mullens and back to Hall … amazingly, the #Vikings still have a path to the postseason, with a must-win game New Year’s Eve on national TV. A big spot for the 25-year-old rookie.

Hall, a fifth-round rookie out of BYU, actually started a game already this season after he took over for the injured Kirk Cousins in Week 8.
Hall played just 11 offensive snaps in Week 9 against the Atlanta Falcons before he suffered a concussion and was replaced by the then-recently-acquired Josh Dobbs.
Dobbs led the Vikings to a comeback win over the Falcons and snagged the starting role away from Hall, who didn’t play for the next four games.
The Vikings demoted Dobbs to third string behind Hall with Mullens as the starter after Week 14.
But after Mullens flopped in Week 16, Minnesota head coach Kevin O’Connell decided to go back to the rookie rather than return to Dobbs.
Hall has completed 8-of-10 passes this season for 101 yards in his two games of action.
He also rushed four times for 10 yards and lost one fumble.
This game against the Packers has major playoff implications for both sides, and the Vikings will already be without tight end T.J. Hockenson, who suffered a season-ending knee injury, and could also be without rookie wideout Jordan Addison, who suffered an ankle injury.
