At the esteemed Enero Costanera venue in Buenos Aires, Gonzalo and Nicolás Pieres, accompanied by Bautista Bayugar and Ignatius Du Plessis, the latest additions to the team for the season, introduced the Ellerstina Yellow Rose lineup for the upcoming polo season in Argentina. The quartet revealed the team’s fresh official jersey and discussed their expectations for the forthcoming year. Gonzalo Pieres expressed, “We’re thrilled to kick off the season with this new lineup. Our goal is to start off strong and pursue success throughout the season,” at the event attended by various notable individuals.
This season, the renowned Ellerstina team, boasting numerous championships, including multiple editions of the Argentine Polo Open, receives support from Yellow Rose, a polo club established in 1996 in Punta del Este by Jorge “Corcho” Rodríguez. Rodriguez, accompanied by his partner Vero Lozano, was among the distinguished guests at the event.
Yellow Rose continues to nurture the expansion of the international polo community, with operations in both Argentina and Uruguay. Since 2021, it has expanded its polo initiatives in Argentina and formed a partnership with Ellerstina, a vibrant and dynamic team full of potential, enthusiasm, and strong organizational backing, which aids in the players’ development and future prospects. The team, now without Facundo Pieres, who chose to join the La Natividad quartet this season, consists of Nicolas Pieres, Bautista Bayugar, Gonzalo Pieres, and “Nachi” Du Plessis, boasting a combined handicap of 35 goals. Anticipation is high for the Argentine Triple Crown, featuring prestigious tournaments such as the Hurlingham Open, Tortugas Open, and the Argentine Open Polo Championship.
Sponsors for Ellerstina’s presentation include Yellow Rose, Jeep, Gibson, and RUS, with additional backing from AlUla, Stella Artois, Sierra de los Padres, Enero Restaurant, Johnnie Walker, Clos de los Siete, and Aconcagua.
Beyond its success in local tournaments, Yellow Rose is renowned for its commitment to social causes and support for equestrian sports. The club hosts traditional charity events that combine high-handicap polo with music and philanthropy, attracting esteemed polo players and raising funds for charitable endeavors. Notable polo figures in Argentina, including Polito Pieres, Ignacio Figueras, Gonzalo Pieres, Bartolomé “Barto” Castagnola, Mariano Aguerre, Facundo Pieres, Pablo Llorente, among others, have participated in these events.
In 2021, the club organized an event in Punta del Este sponsored by the Argentine Polo Association and the Uruguayan Polo Association, bringing together the world’s top polo players to support the Marabo Sports and Social Club in General Rodríguez, Buenos Aires province. Yellow Rose’s dedication to social responsibility is further demonstrated through its collaboration with the Compromiso Foundation and the Municipality of General Rodríguez, its home base. The club advocates for a free training program catering to individuals over 16 years old in digital skills such as Digital Marketing, Electronic Commerce, and Digital Programming. The 2023 season represents a significant milestone for the club as it takes on the title sponsorship of Ellerstina in the Triple Crown, emphasizing the shared values of family, friendship, and sportsmanship promoted by Yellow Rose.
