Assessments of Water Delivery Systems in Luanda

On November 21, 2023, the Minister of Energy and Water, João Baptista Borges, along with the Governor of Luanda, Manuel Homem, the Secretary of State for Energy, António Belsa da Costa, and officials from the Ministry of Energy and Water, as well as members of the EPAL administration, visited various EPAL projects in the capital, Luanda.

Phase III of the Candelabro Water Treatment Plant, designed to boost water supply capacity and alleviate shortages in certain areas of Luanda, was closely examined. The team also inspected the Water Distribution Center at the New Airport (Lot Q5), a project with a nominal capacity of 40,000 cubic meters, expected to benefit around 789,943 residents.

Furthermore, the Water Distribution Center at Bom Jesus (Lot Q8), part of the Quilonga Grande system 5 and currently 5.72% complete, was assessed. This center will have a capacity of 30,000 cubic meters.

To conclude their visit, the minister and the Governor of Luanda inaugurated the KK 5000 agency, which features a service room, an office, and a spacious waiting area.
