Making a splash on our return to a new-look Chessington

After years of not visiting Chessington World of Adventures, I finally decided to return with my 12-year-old son, his best friend, and a car full of ponchos. As we drove up to the theme park, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of excitement and nostalgia wash over me. It had been years since I had set foot in this magical place, and I was eager to see how it had changed.

As we entered the park, my son and his friend were giddy with anticipation. They were ready to take on every rollercoaster and ride that Chessington had to offer. I, on the other hand, was secretly hoping for a more low-key day. But little did I know, that wasn’t going to be the case.

First things first, we made our way to the iconic Chessington sign for a quick photo op. My son and his friend insisted on getting a picture with the sign, and I couldn’t resist joining in on the fun. As I looked around, I noticed that the park had undergone some major improvements since my last visit. It was clear that Chessington World of Adventures had only gotten better with time.

As we made our way through the park, I couldn’t help but feel like a kid again. The familiar sights and sounds brought back so many fond memories from my own childhood. But what struck me the most was the happiness on my son’s face. He was having the time of his life, and his excitement was contagious.

Our first stop was the Gruffalo River Ride Adventure, a newer addition to the park. I had heard so much about this ride, and I was curious to see if it lived up to the hype. And let me tell you, it did not disappoint. The attention to detail in creating the world of the Gruffalo was astounding. From the animatronics to the music, everything was perfect. As we sailed down the river, my son and his friend couldn’t stop giggling and pointing out their favorite characters. I couldn’t help but feel a sense of awe and wonder myself.

Next up was my personal favorite, the Vampire rollercoaster. As we waited in line, I couldn’t help but remember the first time I rode this thrilling ride. I was about my son’s age, and it was my first time on a rollercoaster. It was a mix of fear and excitement, and I was curious to see if my son would have a similar experience. As we soared through the twists and turns, all I could hear were screams of joy from my son and his friend. And I couldn’t help but join in as well.

After a few more rides and a much-needed lunch break, we decided to check out the animal exhibits at the park. This was something I had always enjoyed during my previous visits, and I was happy to see that my son and his friend were just as fascinated as I was. We made our way to the SEA LIFE Aquarium, where we saw all sorts of sea creatures and even got to touch some of them. It was a great learning experience for the kids, and I was glad that Chessington had incorporated education into their park.

As the day went on, we went on more rides, played games, and even got soaked on the Rameses Revenge. But despite the rain and the long lines, my son and his friend were having the time of their lives. And as for me, I couldn’t imagine a better way to spend the day with my son.

As we packed up to leave, I couldn’t help but feel grateful for the memories we had created at Chessington World of Adventures. It was a day filled with laughter, thrills, and bonding moments with my son. And I realized that despite the changes over the years, the heart and soul of the park remained the same – providing families with a fun and magical experience.

So, if you’re thinking of visiting Chessington World of Adventures, I highly recommend it. From thrilling rollercoasters to magical rides and educational animal exhibits, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. And don’t forget to bring a poncho, you never know when the British weather might decide to make an appearance.
