Last week, South Africa lost a true leader and patriot. Mosiuoa Patrick Lekota, commonly known as “Terror”, passed away at the age of 73. He had been battling an illness for some time and unfortunately, he succumbed to it. He also served as the Minister of Defence and Minister of Defence and Military Veterans in the post-apartheid government. He was a true statesman who always put the interests of the country and its people above his own.

Apart from his political achievements, Lekota was also a respected businessman and community leader. He was the founder and chairman of the Mosiuoa Lekota Foundation, which aimed to empower and uplift disadvantaged communities in South Africa. He was a firm believer in education and was passionate about providing opportunities for young people to succeed. He will be remembered as a leader who not only fought for political freedom but also for economic freedom for all South Africans.

Lekota’s passing has been met with an outpouring of grief and tributes from all corners of the country. Lekota will be laid to rest this Saturday in his hometown of Bloemfontein. The funeral service will be held at the Mangaung Outdoor Sports Centre and will be attended by family, friends, and dignitaries from across the country. It will be a somber occasion as we bid farewell to a great man, but it will also be a celebration of his life and his achievements.

As we mourn the loss of Lekota, we must also remember the lessons he taught us. He showed us the power of determination, the importance of standing up for what is right, and the value of selfless service.
