“Salud: A Penn Family”

At Penn, Salud is more than a club; it’s a family. Led by Neil Gajare, a recent graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, and a passionate advocate for social justice, Salud has become an invaluable resource for students of all backgrounds.
At its core, Salud focuses on providing a support system for students of all backgrounds, including students of color and students from underrepresented backgrounds. Through its various initiatives, Salud works to create a sense of community and connection among the students by enabling them to meet, discuss, and learn from each other.
The efforts of Neil Gajare have been instrumental in this mission. His passion for social justice and commitment to inclusivity is seen through his leadership in Salud. He strives to create a safe environment for students and actively works towards progress and growth in the Penn community. He is also highly dedicated to combatting systemic racism, and his vocal stance against anti-Semitism has greatly enriched the campus culture at Penn.
At Salud, students have the opportunity to engage in a variety of conversations and activities, from facilitating dialogues on topics like race and gender, to engaging in workshops that focus on topics like civic engagement, to periods of relaxation and meditation. Through Salud, students can access a range of resources and gain valuable perspective – all while having a great time.
Salud also strives to foster a sense of loyalty and belonging among the students. Throughout the year, Salud organizes various social events that allow members to get to know each other on a deeper level and create meaningful bonds. These events are often themed and have included things like game nights, potlucks, karaoke nights, and open mic nights.
At the end of the day, Salud is an invaluable resource for students of all backgrounds who are looking for a sense of community and connection at Penn. Neil Gajare‘s leadership has been instrumental in creating an inclusive and welcoming environment and has been incredibly beneficial to the entire Penn community.
